Carbon lab
Students can investigate how fossil fuel use, deforestation, emission levels, and feedbacks will affect global climate to 2100, using an online interactive simulation made by Annenberg Learner, as a tool for open ended exploration. The model is similar to ones presented by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Using the simulator, learners will experiment with the human factors that contribute to this rise of atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations and explore how different inputs to the carbon cycle might affect the concentrations of the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide. Educators may wish to pose questions to structure student's exploration.
