Plant detectives
This resource pack provides four 15 minute activities supporting learners active exploration of plants. They can identify plant parts, observe water transportation in plants, explore what plants need to stay healthy and understand the importance of plants through discussion. Learners can carry out a plant hunt in their school grounds using the WWT's plant ID sheet. The pack is accompanied by supporting resources that can be printed or used on screen with learners.

Preparation
What you need
- plant visuals (see final pages of guidance)
- plant ID sheet (see final pages of guidance)
- celery with leaves still attached or white carnation flower on stem
- food colouring
- vase, jar or glass
- 4 small plants of the same type and approximately the same size and condition (in their pots)
- 2L plastic bottle
- sellotape
- cardboard box
