Solar kettle
This activity supports learners to investigate first hand the renewable energy source of solar power and understand how it can be harnessed. They'll do this through making a solar kettle.
It has been designed for KS3, but can be modelled for KS2 or conducted in smaller groups.

Preparation
What you need
- a copy of the activity guidance
- recycled tall or medium plastic bottle
- recycled Small bottles to fit inside bigger ones
- small length of hose or inner tube
- black paint
- tape and scissors
- aluminium foil
- stop clock and thermometer
- sunshine
